Frequent lower back pain is a common complaint, but many sufferers are unable to afford the time and/or money for countless hours of therapy and rehab.

Researchers from Tel Aviv University tested two groups of people all suffering from debilitating back pain.

The first group received typical clinic-based rehab and therapy sessions with a health professional 2-3 times per week for 6 weeks.

The second group completed a walking program which consisted of walking 30-40mins 2-3 times per week for the 6 weeks.

Results showed that both groups improved significantly in all areas of assessment demonstrating that the walking program was “as effective as treatment that would have been received in the clinic” says the lead researcher.

So the next time you suffer from back pain, I suggest you still get some advice and treatment from a qualified and experienced health professional but you should also increase the number of times you walk each week as it really will help to alleviate your back pain symptoms.
