Q: Can I just take 1 fish-oil tablet to get my recommended Omega 3 intake?

A: Unfortunately, the typical western diet contains an excess of Omega 6 fatty acids and very low (to non-existent) Omega 3 fatty acids.

This imbalance can lead to a whole host of chronic conditions such as Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, muscle loss, fat gain, Hypertension and inflammation.

So, we need to reverse this by including lots of different sources of Omega 3 throughout the day at each and every meal.

Yes, a fish oil capsule will provide some Omega 3 but that is only one source. You should ideally eat foods like fatty fish (salmon and mackerel), ground flaxseed, flaxseed oil, leafy green vegetables and walnuts on a daily basis to increase your intake of not only more Omega 3, but also important vitamins, minerals, nutrients and fibre.

Furthermore, you may need to take more than just 1 fish oil capsule each day despite what the label states as even the ‘high dose’ capsules will only go a small way to giving you the amount of Omega 3 you need each day.
